Karen Saka mother of David (Butterfly) and Isaac (Daisy)

When I was looking for a preschool for my 4th child, David, I kept hearing amazing things about Gan Katan and Katy. I’ll never forget one of my friends, who had her child there before me said, “if you don’t put him at Katy, you’re depriving him!” I didn’t think twice and I contacted both Katy and Sharone.

I went to see the Gan that was at the time in the house where it all started. I entered and right away I could feel the warmth and love that radiated all across the house that was coming from the teachers to the kids. I remember going home and telling my husband that I found the preschool where I wanted David to be.

David started his first day of school when he was 2. He began as a Sunflower and Sharone was his teacher. I was actually in the beginning of my pregnancy with my Isaac who is now almost 2 at Gan Katan as a Daisy. I was so sick from the pregnancy, which made it a very hard transition for David. I cannot begin to say enough how much love and patience Sharone, Katy, and the other teachers had toward David. They were so dedicated and caring and they always wanted to ensure that he was ok as he was adapting to school.

From the moment David began school he did not speak a word. He was extremely shy. His teachers learned how to communicate with him even though he wouldn’t speak. I’ll never forget Katy telling me, “don’t worry, I’m more stubborn than him! I will get him to speak next year when he’s in my class!” I was so hopeless and I didn’t believe her. I thought to myself that how could she do that if he’s been so shy? Let me tell you, Katy knew what she was doing. He started speaking a few months into his 2nd year as a Caterpillar! It could not have happened without Katy’s hard work, love, persistence, dedication, and knowledge. The teachers who met him afterwards, cannot believe that he was ever so quiet. He now is comfortable in his own skin and he’s one of the most talkative kids in his class.

This year, my almost 2 year old began as a Daisy. We have seen how much he is learning, thriving, and loving school! Whenever I ask him if he wants to go to Morah Natalia and Morah Marlen, he always yells, “yeah” and he runs to the front door! We couldn’t have asked for better teachers for him this year! They are the perfect fit for the Daisies.

When the kids don’t have school, David especially asks when he’ll be going to school. He absolutely loves it. When I drop them off, David runs in and I leave them knowing that they are in the best hands! Gan Katan is our children’s second home!

When my husband and I were looking for a school for our son, we searched for the perfect combination of a strong learning environment as well as a homey, warm environment. Right when I walked into Gan Katan, I knew it would be the perfect school for our family. The love this school has for my son is so incredible and the love my son has for this school means everything to us.

From the security guard, to the teachers, to the administration- everyone shows every child the most incredible attention. Sitting in carpool and seeing the teachers greet the students, is something so special to watch.

My sons first year at Gan Katan was so incredible, I thought nothing can ever top that. Gan Katan has definitely proved me wrong. Each year just keeps getting better and better and I owe it all to the incredible staff.
The most amazing feeling for a parent is when you pull up to school each morning and your child screams out the window: “YAY WERE AT SCHOOL!”

We can’t wait for our son to continue growing and learning more at Gan Katan for years to come as well as our future children.

We feel so grateful to have found our perfect combination!!

The very first time I went to look at Gan Katan and met Katy and Sharon I knew it was the perfect fit for my kids and now we’ve been part of the Gan Katan family for 5 years.
There are so many amazing things to say about the school but the most important fact is the love that the teachers have.

They take such an interest in getting to know the kids personally, they’re energetic and give each child the attention that they need.

We get daily pictures throughout the day and seeing them so happy and busy while in school makes me feel very confident in my decision.

My kids wake up excited to go to school everyday and they’re so happy to be there, which is very reassuring as a parent.

What I love about Gan Katan is the warm and nurturing atmosphere that values kids emotional accomplishments just as much as academic milestones. Students are treated as individual learners with teachers adjusting their approach based on each kids needs. At the end of each year our kids have received individualized scrapbooks and journals that the teachers use to record our children's work throughout the year both with photographs and actual examples of work - this level of care and detail is invaluable to us and we treasure these notebooks as records of their positive school experiences.

At Gan Katan my kids have learned a range of healthy habits - be it basic team work, cleanliness, housekeeping, kitchen skills and a host of other "real life" things like responsibility and independence. I love how the teachers trust and empower the kids to grasp things based on their abilities and don't pressure or rush them to fit into a certain mold or stratus of achievement. But most importantly my kids are happy to go to school each day, their teachers are not stingy with hugs, they are learning through play and school is a joy to them, a feeling which I hope stays with them going forward.
